welcome to my computer page!

to be honest, i still don't really know how i want to format this. i just wanted to talk about my recent hyperfixation, along with designing a cool site based off the wm i'm currently using, hyprland. more on that in the linux section.

while this page is titled the computer stuff and i'm mostly going to be talking about that, if/when i get my hands on an ipod classic, i'll talk about it here. just treat this as my fun technology page where i get to autism out freely.

the buttons on the side are not just for decoration! they take you to different sections of this page. you know... like the hyprland workspaces. here is a nice little table of contents type guide:

workspace contents
1 (this one!) intro & linux
2 hardware, software, and web servers
3 i don't knowwwww...

soooo ermmmm.........ya. there u go. enjoy.

linux (endeavouros&arch specifically)

i've actually used linux before! of course, it was ubuntu. i put it on my old laptop (more on her in the hardware section) since windows was too resource intensive. honestly... i really didn't like it. gnome's ui turned me off a lot, and i just couldn't get used to it. looking back on it, that is probably mostly thanks to how slow that laptop was, but i digress.

anyways, that was 2019. i didn't touch linux again until this year... which is 2025. so, quite a big jump. i was getting really tired of windows, and i absolutely did not want to switch to windows 11, so i decided to step out of my comfort zone and try out the distro my friend used, endeavouros.

to be honest, endeavouros (and arch in general) kind of changed my mind on linux as a whole. i didn't know about desktop environments and window managers and all that. i thought all linuxes just looked as ugly as ubuntu. imagine how blown away i was when i got to the part of the eos installation where it asked what de i wanted. i went with kde plasma, and honestly? i still would do the same. i love hyprland very much and use it regularly, but plasma is just so beautiful.

i'm not that good with change, i must admit. that's why i say i stepped out of my comfort zone in switching to linux. i didn't want to half-ass it, but i also was so used to using windows, i didn't know how i would adjust to linux. spoiler alert: it ended up being really really pleasant. i installed it on my old laptop at first, just to test it out and see if i really liked it, and after a little under a month, i was clearing out an ssd and getting it ready for an endeavouros install.

it's so much fun. obviously, it's not for everyone, but man, is typing a bunch of shit in a terminal fucking fun. coming from windows, i think linux has forced me to learn a lot of stuff, which i am very happy about. setting up mpd was a little bit of a pain in the ass, but it's such a cool daemon. i can literally start my music from the terminal and then open a gui program to control it.

so weirdly enough, for me, i prefer arch over ubuntu by... a lot. idk. maybe it's my hatred for gnome and apt, but i just can't get into it. that being said, i did actually install it on my server pc. i would have gone with eos there as well but one of the servers advised against rolling distros so oh well. i mean... it's fine. some things are easier on ubuntu, but for the most part, arch is just more pleasant.

sooo... i've been on eos for a little over a couple of months now. (as of august 2025) so i've done quite a few stuff to show for it. the coolest thing? well... i learned how to write bash scripts for izaya.

a nice demonstration:

i get my wife on demand! this is very useful for when i need to clear my mind while working in the terminal. this is also the best thing that i will ever create in linux and my magnum opus.

wm + shell

like i said earlier, i started out with kde plasma. i fell for the hyprland hype quickly, though, and wanted to try it out myself. actually, at the start, i didn't care for it. i thought the idea of a tiling window manager was clunky and unpleasant. to my surprise, however, it was very intuitive! i started off with ml4w's dotfiles, but as of right now, i'm currently using caelestia's config, along with the shell. the shell runs on quickshell, which was another new program to me, but i really like it! it's very smooth and pretty. i never touched qml before it, but configuring it is easy enough. so i like it.

cool programs

(you can click the images to make them bigger)

this is mostly just a thing for me to praise programs i like. that being said, you can also take it as a recommendation list if you're on arch (or an arch-based distro). probably linux in general, but that's just what i know.

btop: this is a tui tool for viewing system resources! it looks cute and has everything all in one nice little page so i like it. this is what it looks like:

fastfetch: TBH i feel like everyone knows fastfetch bruh. and actually this is a super cool one cause you can put this on windows, mac, hell you can even put it on android. it's a thing that lets you list your system's specs. this is mine:

euphonica: this is the entire reason i set mpd up man. this player is so beautiful and awesome. the creator is also super cool and fixed some bugs that were causing it to crash on my setup so i am really grateful for this. for me every other mpd gui is kind of really ugly and missing important stuff so i am glad this one exists. the lyrics feature is so awesome.
